Get ready to feast your eyes on this sweet proposal! Jakota contacted me several weeks before his planned proposal to his girlfriend of almost 6 years, Emily. He had set up the proposal so perfectly and had all of the details planned out. Jakota and Emily love going on hikes together and frequent Turkey Run State Park. One day, Jakota told Emily that he needed to go help out a friend and would be gone for several hours. What Emily didn't know is that Jakota and his friend were going to Turkey Run State Park to scope out the perfect spot for Jakota to propose! Jakota wanted to make the proposal extra special so he contacted Emily's parents and her sister and had them fly out so they could witness the proposal and then celebrate with them for the weekend!
The day of the proposal, Emily's family and I arrived to Turkey Run State Park about an hour before the planned proposal. We scouted out the spot and Emily's family hid themselves behind a big rock cluster. I stayed out in the open but just acted like I was taking photos of the rock formations and greenery. Once Jakota and Emily arrived at the spot, Jakota told Emily that he had something for their dog, Howie, and he slipped on a collar that read "Will you marry dad?" and then he asked Emily to look at the collar. As she looked at the collar, Jakota dropped to one knee to ask her to marry him. Emily, obviously said yes! Once she said yes and Jakota and her embraced in celebration, her family started blowing bubbles and blew whistles from behind the rocks to congratulate them. Needless to say, Emily wasn't only surprised by the proposal but also by her family!
Afterwards, we took a few quick photos and then Jakota, Emily, and her family went on a small hike and then would continue on with the festivities that Jakota had planned for them for the rest of the weekend!
