5 Tips for Getting Ready Portraits- Wedding Wednesday

Getting ready portraits is one part of the day that most bride's want to have captured in photo form.  Everything from you and your girls relaxing and drinking champagne to your mother buttoning your dress.  Getting ready portraits help tell the story of your wedding and are a great addition to your wedding album.  Here are some tips to get the most out of your getting ready portraits.

1. Have your photographer arrive after you have already started your makeup.

Most people do not want to be photographed completely undone!  You will want your photographer to arrive once your makeup has been started so they can capture the tail end of your makeup.

2. Natural window light is best.

Your makeup artist will find the best light and this is more than likely be in front of a window, which is great!  Natural window light will help your portraits look natural and bright.  We will also have you get into your dress by a window, if possible, so you will have the best light.

3. Keep the room clutter free.

No one wants water bottles, bags, and shoes in their getting ready portraits. If you can try to keep the clutter confined to one corner of the room, that will be great!

4. Have your details gathered and ready for your photographer.

Have all of your details: shoes, jewelry, invitations, rings, etc ready for your photographer once they arrive.  This will allow your photographer to get right to work and they can get your special details photographed while they are also photographing you and the girls getting ready.

5. Have your attendants dressed before you start getting into your dress.

When it is time for you to get into your dress, whoever will be helping you into your dress should be dressed and ready.  This helps the portraits look cohesive and put together.  You won't want your bridesmaids to be in t-shirts and hair rollers during these portraits!
