2020 and 2021 Wedding Dates To Avoid - Wedding Wednesday

A lot goes into choosing the perfect wedding date!  You want it to be a month or season that you want to get married in and you want it to be a date when all of your friends and family members will be able to attend.  The key here is to just think about days and holidays that you may not want to share an anniversary with.  If you want to turn your wedding into a Super Bowl party, then do it!  If you want to have a New Years Eve wedding and ring in the New Year, then do it!  Below are a few dates in 2020 and 2021 that you may want to avoid or consider.

Holidays

If you have your heart set on a Halloween, New Years, etc wedding, then by all means, go for it!  It may also be tempting to use a holiday that generally has a three day weekend attached to make it easier for out of town guests to travel.  However, you also want to keep in mind that some of your guests may already have standing plans for different holidays and that may hinder their ability to come to your wedding.

Local Events

One mistake that Devin and I did when we got married is we didn't check Purdue University's graduation schedule!  We got married in Lafayette, where Purdue is, and on graduation weekend!  Hotels sell out pretty fast for graduation so we were left trying to find hotels that were still available and not $500 a night for our guests.  This is just one thing to keep in mind when choosing a wedding date.  Do a quick search to see if any big events are happening in your area.

Significant Dates For Your Family

Does your family have any special dates?  If so, you may want to steer clear of them to make sure all of your family will be able to attend.  While some couples opt to get married on the same day as their parent's, however, if you don't want to share your anniversary with theirs then that's something to consider as well.

Now, on with the dates!  These holidays and dates may be ones you'd like to avoid.
