Do I Need A Second Shooter If I'm Having A Small Wedding: Wedding Wednesday

Do I Need A Second Photographer If I'm Having A Small Wedding Indiana Wedding Photographer Photography Lafayette Indianapolis

One question that I get all the time happens to deal with have a second photographer at the wedding. Most wedding photographers will have the option of having a package with a second photographer. There are so many questions that come with this so hopefully this blog post with help you with that decision. If you want the fast answer, what I recommend to my couples is that if you have the budget for a second photographer, then get one!

There are a lot of pros when it comes to having a second photographer at your wedding. The second photographer is able to get different angles than the main photographer, they can be in a different area (especially important for getting ready images), and this means that you are able to get more images when all is said and done and images of the same event at different angles. Once I explain this to my couples, most of them will add on the second photographer because who doesn't want more images and different angles of each event!

However, some still have one question: "I'm having a small wedding with not a lot of guests, do I really need a second photographer?" The points mentioned above do not matter if your wedding is a large affair or a more intimate one, the second photographer can still capture different angles and different moments that are occurring. The size of your wedding does not really affect that at all. I recommend second photographers for all my couple's weddings regardless of if it's an intimate backyard wedding or a wedding with a ballroom reception. The second photographer is still useful at weddings of all size!

On the flip side, if you are having a wedding with a big guest list or are having a large wedding party, then a second photographer can be more of a necessity. With large wedding parties, we can cut down a bit on portrait time by having one photographer photograph the bride and her girls and the other photographer photographing the groom and his guys at the same time. If you are having a lot of guests, then two photographers can help make sure that more of your guests are captured in portraits.

Hopefully this Wedding Wednesday post is a bit helpful in deciding if you should have a second photographer or not at your wedding!
