Rainy Day Wedding Tips: Wedding Wednesday

Rainy Day Wedding Tips Indiana Wedding Photographer Lafayette Indianapolis

Rain on your wedding day is considered to be good luck! However, for some couples, rain seems like a nightmare for their wedding day. This is especially true if you are planning on having any sort of outdoor wedding. Rain on your wedding day doesn't have to be a bad thing, you just need to be prepared! Today for Wedding Wednesday we will be talking about some tips to make sure that if rain does happen on your wedding day, that it won't be the end of the world!

Have A Backup Plan

Backup plans are crucial when it comes to rain on your wedding day. This is especially true if any portion of your wedding will be outdoors. Talk with your venue and come up with a plan of attack for if rain does hit on your wedding day. Most venues will already have a rain plan in place so it will be easy to move from an outdoor location to an indoor location if need be. If your venue does not have a rain location, then you will want to reserve a tent with a rental company. A lot of rental companies will have a lower rate and some will even refund your money if you don't end up needed to use the tent. Having that tent reserved will help put you at ease and will make sure you will have a tent available if rain is in the forecast.

Invest In Some Clear Umbrellas

As long as it's not a torrential downpour or monsoon on your wedding day, then you will still want to take at least a few portraits outdoors. Having some clear umbrellas handy will allow you to get some pretty outdoor portraits while staying dry at the same time. Unlike normal umbrellas, clear umbrellas let light come through the umbrella which will help you look your best! Your photographer will probably have a few of these on hand but having a few extras is always a good idea!

Be Flexible With Your Timeline

Even when it does call for rain that doesn't mean that it will rain all day long. Most of the time there are several breaks in the rain or it will only rain for an hour or so. Your photographer and venue will more than likely be watching the weather like a hawk to make sure they know exactly when the rain will start and stop. Sometimes a simple switch in the timeline could mean that you can still have all of your portraits outdoors. Being flexible with your timeline on rain days can help you still have the outdoor wedding of your dreams!

Relax and Let Your Vendors Take Over

If rain does happen on your wedding day, don't panic! You have a rain plan in place and your vendors are there to help you! Sit back and relax and let your vendors take over. They will make sure your wedding goes off without a hitch so you can relax and enjoy your big day!
