Frankie and Hosley are married! YAY! These two first met all the way back when they were in 8th grade when a mutual friend had them both other for a Star Trek marathon. While they lived in the same town, they didn't go to the same school so they didn't reconnect until Sophomore year of high school while they were both at the same school dance. They instantly hit it off and started dating. They dated for over a year and then broke up (as teenagers do). Over the years they kept in contact since they had a lot of mutal interests. After high school they went to different colleges and reconnected again after Frankie reached out to Hosley for an interview on how colleges were responding to the pandemic. Frankie was thinking about PhD programs and chose Purdue, where Hosley was, and the rest is history! They didn't have a typical proposal and more so just started talking about how they wanted to get married and then naturally moved from the, we should get married talk to let's plan the wedding!
I'm all about making your wedding your own, regardless of if you are having a more traditional wedding and wanting to include in a few things that are meaningful to the two of you or if you plan to have a completly unique and off-beat wedding that's completely you. Making your wedding truly your own will help it be even more special and sentimental. Frankie and Hosley did just that when it came to their wedding day! They really wanted an intimate wedding that was truly them and wanted to give their guests a unique experience. They also loved splitting up their wedding so they had some breaks and time to spend with each other.
Their wedding celebration started out last Thursday. I met up with them at their apartment for a few getting ready photos and then for their first look. We then went around Downtown Lafayette for some couple portraits. Instead of wearing the "traditional" wedding attire, they wanted their attire to feel special and celebratory but also something that they would both be able to wear and enjoy in their wardrobe. Frankie handmade most of their attire! The lace shawl Frankie wore was knitted from an unraveled cardigan that they thrifted. Their lace and cables caridgan was knitted from silk and alpaca yarns that they purchased from a local hand-dyer and their boots are historically inspired. Hosley wore clothing that was light and summery and is something that they are very excited to wear again in the future, especially because there are matching shorts for their shirt. After portraits, we went to Flora Candle for their ceremony. Frankie and Hosley both love Flora Candle and are frequent customers so including it into their wedding made sense. They started off with an intimate ceremony and then them and their guests were able to do a candle pour and make their own candle to take home as a wedding memento. They got to chat and have refreshments and drinks with their loved ones.
Day two of their wedding was last Friday and took place at Ripple and Company. They wanted to have a lunch with their guests and do a cake cutting and some speeches. Since they had two days of festivities, that also meant that they got to have two outfits! Frankie knitted another shirt for this day and wore a handmade skirt. Hosley wore a treasured shirt from a Hawaiian designer and family friend, Sig Zane. Hosley's aunt also brought them leis to wear. They started off day two with appetizers and lunch and then transitioned into speeches and cake cutting. Afterwards they played games with their guests, including a euchre bracket, and got to enjoy their day how they envisioned.
Enjoy some of my favorite images from their wedding below!
