If you are a wedding couple who is going to be tying the knot and have children, then you probably are wondering how you can include them into your big day! Even though your wedding is about the two of you and your love, your children are naturally a part of that as well. Below are a few ways you can include your children into your wedding.
Have Them Be A Part Of The Wedding Party
An easy way to have your kids be a part of the whole wedding is to include them in the wedding party! If they are younger, they can be flower girls or ring bearers. If they are older, they can be a bridesmaid, groomsmen, or even an usher or attendant.
Have Them Walk You Down The Aisle
If you don't have your heart set on a parents or other loved one walking you down the aisle, then you can always have your children escort you! They are not only able to be with you as you walk down the aisle to start your journey into marriage but it's a nice way to include them into the ceremony.
Include Them In Your Vows
Your vows signify you and your fiancé coming together as one and starting your life together. If you have children, those children are included in that life and you can say a few vows to them showing them that you will love them and that they are a part of your new life.
Include Them In Your Unity Ceremony
If you are doing a unity ceremony during your wedding ceremony this is an easy way to tie them into the ceremony portion of the day. They can pour sand, light a candle, tie a knot, etc with you both. This helps them feel included and it's a special way to show them that they are a significant part of the marriage.
Dedicate A Dance To Them
Just like the Father/Mother dances that happen during the reception, you can easily do a dance with the children. Maybe it's just you dancing with the child (which can be special if you're becoming a step-parent) or maybe you will include the children into the tail end of your first dance.
Include Them In Your Portraits
Your children will obviously be a part of your family portraits on the wedding day but you can also include them into a few of your couple portraits as well. Get some photos of all of you together and each of you with the children.
Give Them A Special Gift
A lot of couples exchange gifts on the wedding day as an extra way to show their spouse-to-be some love. You can always get your kids a special gift as well. Maybe it's something for them to wear on the wedding day or something for them to treasure and use for a lifetime.
