What To Do When You're Not a Photo Person But Still Want Great Wedding Photos

Not everyone loves being in front of the camera. If you or your partner tend to cringe at the idea of professional photos, you're not alone.

Here's the good news: you don't have to be a photo person to have photos you love. You just need the right photographer and a few mindset shifts.

Communicate Honestly Before the Big Day

Tell your photographer how you're feeling. Nervous, camera shy, hate the way you look in photos? I've heard it all and trust me, you won't be judged.

Knowing this helps us adjust how we guide you, post you, and make you feel comfortable.

Focus on Connection, Not the Camera

The goal isn't to perform, it's to connect. Hold hands, make eye contact, and whisper inside jokes. We'll guide you with simple prompts that focus on each other, not the lens. You'll forget we're even there.

Choose a Low Key Location for Engagement Portraits

An engagement session can be a great warm up but choose a location that feels familiar and low-pressure. Skip the crowded public park and for a quiet neighborhood, your favorite coffee shop, or even your home.

The more relaxed the setting, the more relaxed you will be.

Don't Overthink Your Appearance

You don't need to look like a model. You just need to look like you, feeling good and being yourself.

Wear something you feel comfortable in, avoid trendy poses that don't feel natural, and trust that your love is more than enough.

Let Go of the Idea That You're Bad at Photos

Most people who say this have just had bad photo experiences. Maybe they were over posed, rushed, or made to feel awkward.

When the experience is different, the outcome is too.

You don't have to fake a thing. You just have to show up. With a little trust, the right guidance, and permission to just be yourself, you will walk away with photos you actually love.

Still not sure how to feel comfortable in front of the camera? Let's talk. I specialize in helping couples feel like themselves, even if they hate having their photo taken.
