5 Timeline Mistakes That Can Hurt Your Wedding Photos

A beautiful wedding gallery starts with a carefully curated timeline. You don't want to have to wing it or try to squeeze too much into too little time. Below are a few of the common mistakes I see.

Not Scheduling Enough Time For Hair and Makeup

The morning of your wedding is where things can run behind and throw the whole timeline off. Communicate with your hair and makeup folks when everyone needs to be done for photos. Ask them how long they need and let your photographer know so they can adjust the timeline, if needed. Add in a few extra minutes during getting ready because someone will need to have a hair/makeup retouch or need to steam a dress or iron a suit. Adding in extra time will make sure you have some wiggle room.

Not Having A Family Portrait List

Give you photographer 10-15 groupings that you want for your family portraits. Your photographer will put them into a order that makes the most sense and saves the most time. This will make sure you can get through these fast and everyone can head to cocktail hour.

Skipping Sunset Portraits

Sunset is the prettiest time for photos and it lets you spend a few moments alone during your reception. Schedule 10-15 minutes for some photos and alone time.

Too Little Travel Time

If you need to travel between locations on your wedding day, factor that in! Don't only factor in how long it will physically take you to get from point a to point b but also how long it will take to pack bags and get everyone in the car.

No Time To Relax

Adding 10-15 minutes throughout the day to relax will help you feel more relaxed. You can have a breather, do some touch ups, or just sit for a few moments and have some water.

A well planned timeline allows you to enjoy your day and not feel rushed.
