Most brides choose to get their hair and makeup professionally done for their wedding. This allows them to look their best and allows them to relax a bit and get pampered before they walk down the aisle. The following timeline will help you when it comes time to book your hair and makeup services.
6-12 Months Before Wedding
When you are about 6-12 months from your wedding day, this is when you should be researching hair stylists and makeup artists to find the one that is perfect for you. Once you find someone you love, go ahead and book them. Popular ones will book up fast and if you are getting married on a Saturday in a popular month, hair and makeup artists could already be booked.
6 Months Before Wedding
Around the 6 month mark, or at the latest around the 3 month mark, you should be meeting with your stylist for your hair and makeup trial. This will let you work with your artist and make sure you hair and makeup is exactly what you are wanting. I always recommend that my brides have their makeup trial done the day of their engagement session. This way they will look and feel their best during their session and they can see how their makeup photographs. Most engagement sessions happen at the 6 month mark so you can use your engagement photos for your Save The Date.
Wedding Day
Hair and makeup services can take time so you will want to make sure you build it into your wedding day timeline. Overestimating how long your hair and makeup will take is best just in case something takes longer than expected. Your hair and makeup artist will be able to give you an estimate on how much time they'll need. Bridal hair and makeup takes, on average, around 1 1/2 hours. Bridesmaid hair and makeup takes, on average, 1 hour. Of course this can vary based on your artist and hair and makeup choices.
