Holcomb Gardens Proposal Indianapolis Indiana: Alex & Kaelyn

Alex and Kaelyn are engaged! Photographing proposals are always so much fun and I'm always honored when someone reaches out about having me photograph their proposal. Alex reached out to me last month about photographing his proposal. He already had the location picked out, Holcomb Gardens in Indianapolis, Indiana, and some of the details thought out. He just needed someone to help bring his vision to life and document the event.

The plan for the proposal was that Alex would meet me at Holcomb Gardens and we would get him hidden behind a large bush. His girlfriend's mom would bring her to the park under the guise that there was a cool bar her friends recommended at the other side of Holcomb Gardens and they would meet up for a drink. They hadn't been able to go out for a drink in a bit so it was the perfect cover. If you know anything about Holcomb Gardens, there is in fact, not a bar at the end of the park but there are bars around the area. The day of the proposal, there was a softball game happening next door and the music was carrying over into the park and that helped the "bar in the park" cover! When Kaelyn and her mom arrived, their favorite song was playing so they literally danced and sang into the park!

I was stationed at one of the wildflower areas and was pretending like I was photographing the flowers. As they approached, singing and dancing, I told them they looked adorable and asked them if they wanted a free photo. I took a photo of them together and then I started to take a few photos of just Kaelyn and that was Alex's cue to come out from the bush and come up behind her. It worked out perfectly! Afterwards, Alex's mom, brother, and nephew came out from their car and they all got to celebrate before we went around the park to get some photos of Alex and Kaelyn.
